New Chevrolet Silverado 1500 EV For Sale in Byron, GA

What do we Know about the Silverado EV?

The Silverado EV at Sutton Chevrolet will be a more classic design in an all-electric pickup truck. The Silverado EV reminds many of the now-discontinued Chevy Avalanche, but this EV will be fully modernized and offer some neat features that will add to the luxurious amenities of the truck. Chevy is working to ensure that a fast-charging system can power up the Silverado EV in under 30 minutes, and the dual-power motors are slated to offer drivers the ability to enjoy over 600 horsepower. The Silverado EV comes standard as an all-wheel-drive vehicle, and Chevrolet will build the Silverado EV at the same plant as the Hummer EV.

The Silverado EV will offer a fixed glass roof, black and white leather upholstery accented with red stitching, and a column-mounted shifter. This means that the already-spacious cabin of the Silverado EV will offer even more space where the center console would otherwise be.

All Silverado EV trucks will possess an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen display; however, higher trim options will be outfitted with a 17-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard features in the infotainment system; these apps allow drivers to pair their smartphones with the vehicle's software and carry out voice-activated commands, such as accessing one's contact list to send a voice-generated text.

In-dash navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also a part of the standard features of the Silverado EV.

The Silverado EV has much in common with the Hummer EV but will have two electric motors rather than the three in the Hummer. However, these powerful motors will offer up to 664 horsepower and exhilarating acceleration.

While all-wheel drive is standard in the Silverado EV, drivers may also opt for four-wheel drive.

Some trims will have an adaptive air suspension for even more capability in the Silverado EV (this begins at the RST trim).

The WT trim (the base trim of the Silverado EV) offers a max towing capacity of 8,000 pounds, while the RST and higher trims are slated to tow up to 10,000 pounds. Chevrolet says that eventually, an EV in the lineup that can tow up to 20,000 pounds will be a part of the Silverado trims.

The Silverado EV will utilize Ultium battery technology, which is exclusive to General Motors. This technology allows manufacturers to make a battery pack of up to 200 kWh. Chevrolet says this battery pack will provide up to 400 miles of driving range per charge. Drivers should note that this estimate will affect towing and hauling cargo.

Chevrolet estimates that a ten-minute charge can add up to 100 miles to the battery's life with the fast-charging system included in the Silverado EV. There are no current estimates on charging at home with the Silverado EV.

One of the standard safety features of the Silverado EV is pedestrian detection and automated emergency braking, but other safety features are also available. These include lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. In addition, adaptive cruise control is also available. The higher-level trims will offer the Super Cruise system.

Trim Levels

The Silverado EV is expected to offer six trims:

  • WT
  • LT
  • LTZ
  • Trail Boss
  • High Country
  • RST

The Silverado EV is reminiscent of the Chevy Avalanche of the early 2000s. The Avalanche was considered "part truck/part sport utility vehicle." An available midgate design offers drivers even more cargo room in the truck's bed. The "midgate" design was available in the Avalanche as well. It worked as the rear of the cabin as well as the head of the cargo bed.
